Breathing Under Water

Well a good friend recommended me this album(not only recommended but forcefully made me listen to two of its tracks) and boy it really sounded good. So got the full album and all i can really say is this album is pretty special. This basically is a fusion album of Sitar by Anoushka Shankar and electronic instruments with a club feeling to it which is done by Karsh Kale. Every track in the album has a different story attached to it and it the level of diversity in one album amazes me. A lot of instruments including Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Drums and many other instruments are used. There is a track “Slither” which i thought was absolutely awesome and then there is this track “Sea Dreamer” sung by Sting(the track i liked the most). Then there is a track featuring Norah Jones called “Easy” which really again is a treat. Other artists including Ravi Shankar himself, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Shankar Mahadevan and Sunidhi Chauhan feature in the album. For someone who likes to listen to fusion this really is once-in-a-lifetime album.

Tracks I liked the most: Track 1: Burn, Track 2: Slither, Track 4: Sea Dreamer, Track 10: Abyss

P.S. – I really am no expert in music reviews but heck i liked this album and wrote about it.

Turtles Can Fly

Well I saw this movie sometime back and was really moved by the experience. This movie shows Iraq war and its consequences on the people through the eyes of a group of children and believe me its really very different from a typical war movie u’ll see. There is a sense of irony in almost every scene and only a very mature director could have done that.Simply¬†hats off to the director. The cimematography of the movie too is excellent where some of the shots in the movie are too good. However the best thing about the movie are the child actors, who are absolutely outstanding in the roles specially a character Satellite who is very unique and yet very very real. For someone who likes to watch good cinema this is not a film to miss.

My Rating – 8.5/10
